Fri March 23rd 2012: Reflective Creativity workshop
Imaginative place-based outdoor ways into reflection and evaluation.
Institute for Outdoor Learning (IOL) at Brenscombe Outdoor Centre, Corfe, Dorset. 9.30 – 4.30pm, £30 IOL members, £50 non-members, with lunch.
A day to explore reflective practice and evaluation through creative experiences outdoors and learn how to apply them with your own groups.
On this training we’ll touch on a variety of approaches informed by ecopsychology, groupwork, participatory arts, questing, Land Art and others. This will involve reflective walks, building trails and natural artworks, guided dialogue, writing and sensory exercises. Trying out experiences for ourselves, we’ll learn new ways to incorporate refle
ction and evaluation into your groupwork. We will discuss how we support groups and ourselves as leaders when personal issues emerge and the challenge of building in time for reflection in an action-packed programme. You’ll come away more confident and prepared to support a group to get the most from an experience.
Other ongoing workshops and courses in 2012:
Voice training in playful vocal improvisation, at Bristol Feral Choir workshops
Going Feral, next on April 22nd:

Outdoor games and creative play
A day to top up your games toolkit and explore new ways to play outdoors. Date tbc….
In the morning we’ll explore some outdoor games and their application, for warm ups, group dynamics, physical, social and emotional development. In the afternoon, we’ll develop our own place-based play adventures and experience where our imaginations can take us. We will discuss how we could apply this to our own groups and settings and look at some of the challenges involved. You’ll leave refreshed and inspired to bring fun to your groups at any point, with minimal resources.
